Philanthropic work has led Beverly F Grant to her current position as Program Officer for the DeVos Family Foundations in Grand Rapids Michigan. She provides operational leadership for the Foundations Community Impact work, involving partnering with the Grand Rapids Public Schools, Community and Faith Based Organizations in community efforts from cradle to career. Carla Moore, Director of Human Resources - United Methodist Community House
Carla Moore is a non-profit professional with more than 12 years of experience working with senior executives, managers, and organizational teams. Carla’s knowledge of benefits administration, compensation, recruitment and retention, organizational development, and employee relations make her an invaluable resource in her current role as Director of Human Resources at United Methodist Community House. Shannon Wilson, Vice President - Alliance for Health and Executive Director - Grand Rapids African American Health Institute
Shannon Wilson is community leader focused on improving the health and well-being of residents in the Grand Rapids Area. Ms. Wilson is passionate about strengthening the health care safety net for vulnerable populations and has devoted most of her career to studying the intersection between health and race, with a desire to improve the health care experience for minority populations. Bike Helmet Block Party
Looking for a way to give back this summer? Join us on Saturday, June 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army on Fulton Street to encourage the use of helmets and promote bicycle safety in our community. We will also be helping to complete registration, run activities and guide participants around the park area. Please remember to wear comfortable shoes and khaki shorts or work appropriate jeans conducive to the weather. If you have a BL²END t-shirt you are welcome to wear it. Don't have one? T-shirts will be available to purchase for $10.00. Snacks will be provided to volunteers.

Young Professionals of Color Conference in partnership with
Cascade Consulting Group

The day-long conference featured high caliber speakers of color from a variety of industries. The attendees learned about the landscape of opportunity in Grand Rapids and were given the tools and resources to be successful as a professional of color in West Michigan. They alsor gained insight from leaders in the community who can speak to the challenges and success they are currently faced with in our community.
